Shadowheart is a cleric of Shar the goddess of loss, darkness, and forgetfulness. That last word, forgetfulness, has special meaning to Shadowheart because she had her memories erased prior to her mission to obtain the mysterious artifact she carries. She can be found in the tutorial trapped in a mindflayer pod and is yelling for help. If you free her she will join you and assist in escaping the nautiloid. If you escape the crashing ship you will find her on the beach not far from your starting location.
If you do rescue her you will get a significant boost to your approval with her. If you are planning on romancing Shadowheart I highly advise you take advantage of this boost.
If you want to get on her good side, don’t be critical about her Sharan worship and be kind to animals. Despite worshiping an evil goddess, Shadowheart is not fond of cruelty for cruelty’s sake.
One cautionary note! She and Lae’zel do not like each other AT ALL and conflict may ensue if you recruit them both. You have been warned.
In Act 2 Shadowheart is unaffected by the Shadow Curse, and her ability to turn undead is a huge asset. Once you reach the Gauntlet of Shar in Act 2 Shadowheart will have a choice to make. Will she remain loyal to Shar, or rebel against her goddess in an attempt to rediscover her lost past? Regardless of the choice made in Act 2, the completion of her quest in the city of Baldur’s Gate Daughter of Darkness will require a terrible price to be paid.
In closing Shadowheart is one of the most complex companions in Baldur’s Gate 3. Will you embarce the darkness or reject it? Regardless f the choices you make I have no doubt you’ll love having this snarky half elf in your party.
